On February 10, 1900. John H. Griffith, Dr. R. H. Eanes, J. J. Thames, C. C. Hooper, S. A. Easely, H. T. Kimbro and Robert D. Penn signed the Articles of Association, creating the City National Bank of Taylor. The Charter was issued on April 3, 1900 by the Comptroller of the Currency and the bank opened for business on April 30, 1900 in a building (then a one-story structure) on Third Street also occupied at various time by Patterson Brothers and Taylor Savings & Loan Associations.

Our first location, until December 1908, City National Bank moved its offices to 210 North Main Street, which it occupied until 1965.

Bank "open house" after extensive remodeling (May 17, 1940). In 1965, City National Bank relocated to a newly constructed building located at 116 West Third Street, adjacent to its first banking location.
1965
As City National Bank grew in deposits, customer, and employees over time, the need for additional office space arose. In the 1990's City National Bank purchased and remodeled a building at 212 N Main St and remodeled its third location at 116 West Third St which now houses its Lending Center.
1995
In 1995 , City National Bank created its first website, under President Andy Littlejohn it was an innovator among community banks with online balance inquire, account transfers and bill payment feature. About the Author
Mr. John J. Griffith was one of the founders of City National Bank, president from 1913 to 1940 and chairman of the board of directors until his death in 1944. Born in 1870, he came to Taylor with his family in 1883 when the city was only 6 years old He was a lover of history with particular interest in the history of Texas, the City of Taylor and the surrounding area. The following Sketches of the Early Days in Taylor is reprinted as it appeared in the January 12, 1923 edition of the Taylor Daily Press.
